21st Annual GAMMA Awards

Thursday, April 29, 2010
Our 21st Annual Conference on April 29, 2010 was a great success. We had outstanding attendance at the advertising, management, editorial and design training sessions. The day culminated with the 2010 GAMMA Awards luncheon. Congratulations to all the Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners, and Garden & Gun, winner of the Grand GAMMA Award.

"Membership in MAGS provides opportunities for our staff to share experiences with and learn from some of the best in the business. Our entire publishing team looks forward to the annual MAGS conference and always comes away with new insights, ideas and energy."
Cindy McDaniel, Publisher
Arthritis Today

"As a first-time attendee, I was blown away by the MAGS conference. I left pumped up and with my head swimming with great, actionable ideas, plus the business cards of some publishers and editors I’d been dying to make contact with. Count me in for next year."
Steffen Smith, Owner

At this year's MAGS Conference and GAMMA AWARDS we're all going to rise to the challenges of our industry. Literally. Come out for a day-long conference we're calling On the Rise!

With session speakers, such as Michael Brooks of South Magazine, John Puterbaugh of Nellymoser, Inc., Sherri Adair of Best Self Atlanta, Lanier Norville and John Krieg of MD Publishing, Catherine DiBenedetto for O Magazine, D'anne Heckert of The Atlantan, Marshall McKinney of Garden & Gun, Dean Abatemarco of Reader's Digest, Lisa Newsom, founding editor-in-chief of Veranda and Linda Sherbert, former editor of Veranda, James G. Elliott, Bruce Thomas formerly of Progressive Farmer, Josh Klenert of AOL Mobile, Debra Bates-Schrott of Bates Creative Group, Colleen Oakley of Marie Claire/ Shape/ Woman'sDay/ Redbook/ Parade/ Martha Stewart Weddings, it's sure to GET A RISE OUT OF YOU!

That, and our final endnote panel with the whole crew at Southern Living: Lindsay Bierman, Editor in Chief, Chris Holce, Art Director, Kristen Payne, Executive Director of Marketing, Rebecca Gordon, Test Kitchen Director.

This year, you can partake in one of three morning sessions in the Editorial, Design, or Sales and Management Tracks, beginning at 8:30 am.

Then take a break at 12:30 pm to enjoy the GAMMA Awards luncheon, hosted by writer, TV and radio personality Holly Firfir, which will be held in Altitude, at the top of the W Midtown. The luncheon will be followed by one more afternoon session in your choice of the Editorial, Design or Sales and Management and then join us for a 5:30 pm cocktail party in Living Room, at the W Midtown with drinks and passed hors d'oeuvres where the team from Southern Living will sit on the riser and tell us about their new endeavors to overhaul this long-standing institution.

Last year, so many incredible magazines rose up to accept a GAMMA Award. Many are back this year to compete, meaning... This year's GAMMA Awards are going to be as surprising and competitive as ever! Can't wait to see you there!
