10th Annual GAMMA Awards

Our 18th Annual Conference on April 26 was a great success. We had outstanding attendance at the advertising, management, editorial and design training sessions. The day culminated with the 2007 GAMMA Awards dinner. Congratulations to all the Bronze, Silver, and Gold winners, and to Paste Magazine, winner of the Grand GAMMA Award.

"Thanks for a fantastic conference this year. We got lots of great ideas and info and had fun to boot.  Great job all around."

“I so enjoyed your event and want to extend both my thanks for having me and my congratulations for putting together such a terrific conference.”
Jane Chesnutt,
Editor in Chief of Woman’s Day and Sr. VP/Group Editorial Director of Hachette Filipacchi Media US
Keynote Speaker at the 2007 Conference

“Congratulations again on the 2007 MAGS Conference. The sessions I attended were very worthwhile and the speakers excellent. I've brought back plenty of ideas to begin implementing.”
Jane Gaboury
Editorial Director
Institute of Industrial Engineers

“You are to be commended for putting together such an outstanding annual conference for MAGS. Stephen Pia was the best sales trainer that I have heard in several years of attending MAGS conferences. He is focused, relevant, practical and inspirational. The two afternoon sessions on the web and web-based marketing were especially helpful, as they provided the audience with many practical tools that can be immediately applied to improve our visibility on search engines -- and most of these tools are free.

Thanks again for putting on a very rewarding conference.”

MAGS 2008 President
Senior Editor, McMurry

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Magazine Association of the Southeast. One of the largest and most successful regional magazine associations in the country, MAGS exists for one primary purpose: to provide a forum through which publishing professionals can come together to network, share ideas and receive education and training in the latest magazine publishing trends and techniques.

During the nearly 10 years that I have been a member of MAGS, I have reaped numerous benefits from my participation in the association. Most important are the professional relationships and friendships that have emerged. The monthly luncheons, bootcamps and workshops, social events and the Annual MAGS Conference are attended by the best and the brightest of the magazine industry — there is no better way to build your professional network than by actively participating in MAGS.

In fact, the Annual MAGS Conference offers one of the most informative, educational and dynamic curricula you’ll find anywhere in the country. Each year, we receive rave reviews from attendees who compare the conference favorably to similar events in other big cities — but at a fraction of the cost.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the dedication of the MAGS Board of Directors, who work tirelessly behind the scenes in planning MAGS events and helping set the strategic course for the association.

Our main goal for the association in the coming year will be to continue to build on the successes and accomplishments we have enjoyed in previous years. I look forward to working with the membership and board to help MAGS remain the best regional magazine association in the country.

Sincerely,

Don Sadler
President
