Our
18th Annual Conference on April 26 was a great success. We had
outstanding attendance at the advertising, management, editorial
and design training sessions. The day culminated with
the 2007 GAMMA Awards dinner. Congratulations to all the Bronze,
Silver, and Gold winners, and to Paste Magazine, winner of the
Grand GAMMA Award.
"Thanks for a fantastic conference this year. We got lots of
great ideas and info and had fun to boot. Great job all
around."
Julie Keith
PORTICO
“I so enjoyed your event and want to extend both my thanks
for having me and my congratulations for putting together such a
terrific conference.”
Jane Chesnutt,
Editor in Chief of Woman’s Day and Sr. VP/Group Editorial
Director of Hachette Filipacchi Media US
Keynote Speaker at the 2007 Conference
“Congratulations again on the 2007 MAGS Conference. The sessions
I attended were very worthwhile and the speakers excellent. I've
brought back plenty of ideas to begin implementing.”
Jane Gaboury
Editorial Director
Institute of Industrial Engineers
“You are to be commended for putting together such an
outstanding annual conference for MAGS. Stephen Pia was the best
sales trainer that I have heard in several years of attending
MAGS conferences. He is focused, relevant, practical and
inspirational. The two afternoon sessions on the web and
web-based marketing were especially helpful, as they provided
the audience with many practical tools that can be immediately
applied to improve our visibility on search engines -- and most
of these tools are free.
Thanks again for putting on a very rewarding conference.”

R.R. Donnelley
Vendor Co-Chair
If RR Donnelley Account Executive Curtis Johnson is able to convince his
clients that RRD isn’t “just another printer,” it’s because he isn’t
“just another salesman.”
For starters, Curtis’ 20-year career in printing began in the press
room, not the front offices. In the late 1980s, during undergraduate
studies in Industrial Management and Finance at the University of
Florida and University of South Florida, he joined the staff of the
Tampa Tribune where he worked as a copy editor, composition, press and
plate room apprentice.
Upon returning to his hometown of Atlanta in the early 1990’s, Curtis
further honed his technical knowledge in the pressroom at IPD Printing,
then a division of Graphic Industries (now part of RRD). Seeking to
broaden his knowledge of the process, he moved into Customer Service and
Production Planning, eventually becoming a Team Leader in Customer
Support. There he drew on his background in estimating, knowledge of the
printing process and problem solving skill-set to efficiently coordinate
the work of several sales representatives while managing 3-5
associates.
In 1997 Curtis assumed a sales service role with the company’s top sales
representative, and in 1998 began an eight-year stint as on-site
sales/account executive with the headquarters of an international
pharmaceutical firm, growing an account base of $350,000 in revenue to
$3 million within three years.
Currently a Senior Account Executive with the US Commercial Print
Division in Atlanta, Curtis frequently consults with clients and
agencies alike, drawing on his knowledge of all aspects of the printing
process, as well as RRD’s increasingly broad array of technology related
solutions – to develop marketing programs and offer a variety of web
in-line, direct mail, point of purchase and communications programs. His
ultimate goal: to position himself - and by extension RR Donnelley,
within his accounts - as a total solutions provider, and not just
another printer.
Curtis is the father of three and lives near Lake
Lanier, north of Atlanta. |
